THE GRADUATION PROJECT

In 2009 I started my Film MFA at Columbia University. This was a huge shift in my life – I moved to another country, met people from all over the world and engaged with my favorite art form, visual storytelling, from a whole new perspective.

But one thing didn’t change – whenever I was sitting and had a pen and paper in front of me – I doodled. I used to sit during my classes and fill pieces of paper with all kinds of things – drawing my classmates, little drawings inspired but what was discussed in class or just whatever was going through my head at the time.

After each class I threw the drawings into the trash – for some reason I had no sentiment to them since I was doing them all the time.

One day I walked into one of the offices in the film school and to my surprise I saw all my doodles displayed on the wall. Apparently, the person working in that office found them in the trash and loved them. Until that moment she did not who made them and she kept looking for them in side the garbage can each day…

From that moment on after each class I used to walk into her office and give her what I drew that day. When I graduated, I scanned all of them and created a little project – each day I posted on social media one doodle and dedicated it to the person that was associated with it in my head. Here are the best ones – there are so many more…
