This series of weird creatures started from a moment of boredom... I doodled the first one like I always do quick sketches and drawings, but something about it made me to take it all the way, and keep playing with it until I was happy with the visual in front of me (usually I don’t have the patience to do it…). I enjoyed the process so much I did another one, and another one, started with a basic doddle and finding the creature in it.

In 2015 I was an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College, and I was invited to participate in a professors’ exhibition. I didn’t know what to submit, and then, while looking at my folders, I came across these creatures, and I suddenly I saw them for what they are – and artistic series. I framed them and put them as one coherent artistic piece, maybe the only one I made since my art school days.

They are still hanging on a wall at my house today, and throughout the years, while observing them, I came up with little stories for each one. Maybe one day I will tell them…
